Qualities of an Aligned·By·Design Model-Enabled High-Performance,
Student-Centric Classroom
In education, the core mission is learning and the core practice is teaching.
Therefore, teaching and student achievement are the core focus
of the
Aligned·By·Design
Model-enabled, high-performance, student-centric classroom.
Empowering educators to achieve this core mission, the Model engages every
education system framework, policy, process, resource and activity at all levels
in strategic and daily alignment with, and in effective support of, teaching and
learning. It addresses the instructional needs of teachers and the individual
learning needs of each student, regardless of current academic achievement
progress.
The Model derived
Aligned·By·Design
System brings the education community state-of-the-art technology, the proven
quality model, power tools, automation and an optimized data system which allows
them to improve efficiencies, communications and teaching and learning outcomes.
Using a coherent, integrated approach, it brings unity and alignment to the
planning and implementation of every system function, including content
standards, curriculum, instructional materials, assessments, performance data,
professional development, and instructional support systems.
At the heart of system is the Model-enabled reality of ensuring that every
student is learning in a high-performance, student-centric classroom. This
classroom provides teachers and students with the optimal
instructional environment needed to raise student achievement levels and close
chronic racial and socio-economic achievement gaps.
The attributes and qualities of the Model-enabled high-performance,
student-centric classroom include for:
STATES & DISTRICTS
-
The objectives, policies, management and operations at the state and district-
levels are systemically and logically aligned with and evaluated by their
contribution to a student-centric instructional strategy, the classroom and
clearly defined and understood student achievement objectives
-
State content standards are teachable, measurable and specified by the identical
high-definition knowledge and skills-referenced detail in the state assessment
-
A culture of compliance-based accountability has been replaced by one where
ownership of results, a commitment to continuous improvement and shared
accountability for the delivery of high-quality instruction to each student and achieving
results is the norm
-
A high quality optimized data infrastructure readily and in real-time reports a
range of outcome and implementation data in support of rigor and equity are at
the finger-tips of administrators and teachers, including in-depth and
actionable reports on student achievement progress
-
Districts and schools can determine where they have or lack the capacity to
provide access to rigorous learning for all students and how they can better
focus resources to that end
TEACHERS & SCHOOLS
-
Teachers knows exactly what their students need to learn for proficiency and can
focus on achieving that objective as the highest learning priority
-
The knowledge and skills covered by each lesson plan and instructional material
is in precise alignment with the fine-grained content areas in the standards
-
Teachers and schools have a coherent, accessible, evidence-based knowledge of
what under performing students need to accelerate their learning, and those
needs are addressed in real-time and resolved before they can accumulate and
become chronic or the student drops out of school
-
School administrators and teacher, working with their districts, evaluate lesson
plans, instructional practices and teaching materials in real-time and can
determine which are or are not working effectively and with what student groups
or individuals
-
Teachers are supported and monitored both for quality implementation of content
and pedagogy and for the growth of their student’s achievement, as well as for
their role in ensuring the alignment of instructional programs and support
services
PARENTS & STUDENTS
-
Each and every student has access to a strong, differentiated academic program,
is provided a portable, customized, up-to-date individual PreK-12 learning plan,
and is adding a year or more of academic progress, each and every year
-
Parents receive useful, real-time data on their child’s achievement progress and
learning gaps
-
Parents have access to curriculum and knowledge resources enabling
participation, mentoring and sustained engagement
