“Rather than striving for excellence, states are camouflaging poor performance.”

Built on the Aligned·By·Design Model, the Aligned·By·Design System  is a complete and unified web-based system that defines a new class of real-time operation and information technology created specifically for education’s complex processes and management structure.  It is unique among the process, management and information technology systems currently available to educators in two crucial ways:

1.       The scope of its functional coverage

2.       Its comprehensive end-to-end process model

Functional Coverage Scope

The Aligned·By·Design System is a comprehensive, end-to-end process support system for our education systems, including national and state organizations, state agencies, local school districts, schools, teachers, students and parents.  This scope is substantial and broader than any existing system.

The scope for the Aligned·By·Design Model was defined by educators and other experts who focused on the classroom process and the central objective of transferring knowledge and skills to students. Following the proven quality model structure, they reviewed and evaluated the principal questions about the classroom process to determine the Model’s scope.

The team traced the inputs, management and measurement of each objective and standards-based education system and process at the federal, state, district and local levels. They examined the issues with today’s poorly-defined content standards and their impact on the classroom process, and they examined the process supports and quality measures. The research and analysis found critical systemic problems, including the systemic absence of concise content definition in the standards which undermined the entire classroom process. While others have cited the non-specific standards as an issue, none have correlated it as the root to the downstream problems leading to achievement gaps.

No other education support system provides a comprehensive solution to education’s systemic problems; and no other system enables the optimal high-performance, student-centric classroom model. Instead, they work with the existing conditions and try to provide ‘value’ through targeted automation tools. The Aligned·By·Design Model is unique because its creators scientifically mapped the full scope and interrelationship of the systemic problems limiting standards-based education achievement. It is a significant advance for the education community because the system provides a scope of functionality that satisfies all the classroom and system processes required to drive sustainable high achievement results for all students.

Process Model Features

The Aligned·By·Design Model solves the comprehensive and system alignment issues by utilizing education’s natural common denominator, content knowledge and skills, to precisely align standards with curriculum and assessments. This novel concept of specifically linking everything in the learning process back to content knowledge and skills and using their transfer to students as the quality measure is a pioneering innovation that transcends the limitations of historical reform policy issues and structures.

Using knowledge and skills as the common denominator, content standards can be defined in high-definition to eliminate the need for interpretation or extrapolation or specialized teacher knowledge to develop classroom curriculum that will drive high achievements.
