Call-to-Action!

The Aligned·By·Design Initiative is a national education leadership call-to-action to restore our nation’s global prominence in academic achievement. Empowered by the breakthrough Aligned·By·Design Model, it affirms an unprecedented opportunity for the education community to eliminate the systemic problems and interrelated challenges that have impeded standards-based education progress for the past 20 years.

The Initiative believes every student can graduate from high school prepared to succeed in the global workforce and that real, sustainable improvements in student achievement can happen.   

The Initiative calls on, and enables, the education community by September 2014 to:

The innovative Model and its derived Aligned·By·Design System enable states and school districts to realize the comprehensive aligned instructional system.  The system empowers educators with a unified, web-based set of processes and tools to meet today’s globally competitive student achievement goals. It is a systemic, evidence-based solution that follows proven quality processes using state-of-the art process automation and management technology.

The System’s integral alignment capabilities ensure that content standards, curriculum and assessments are linked to and reference the identical knowledge and skill item definitions. These explicit definitions enable educators to achieve perfect alignment between standards/frameworks, classroom curriculum (units and lesson plans) and assessments and maintain that alignment as they evolve.

Aligned·By·Design’s next generation Optimized Process Data System monitors student, classroom and school progress in real-time using its cross-sectional and longitudinal databases and dual-engine analytical capabilities to achieve continuous improvement. It automatically collects and analyzes a portfolio of performance and teaching data and ‘at a glance’ provides the teacher, school, district, state and parent with the actionable feedback needed to address learning, instruction, policy and resource allocation questions.

The System provides the flexibility, predictability and incremental support the education community needs to develop truly aligned and effective standards-based instructional systems. The resulting benefits include significant, measurable improvements in student achievement and the closing of long-standing racial and socio-economic achievement gaps.
